Chandrika Gera recounts harrowing ordeal, says Delhi is not safe for women | Watch

New Delhi: Chandrika Gera, the vada pav girl from Delhi, rose to fame in 2024 by garnering massive traction on social media. In no time, she became an internet sensation with lakhs of followers on Instagram. Fans were seen queuing at her then-roadside food stall to taste her fast food dish and even click selfies with her. But, who could have thought this fame would lead to troubles and challenges she never imagined?

The Bigg Boss OTT season 3 star on Tuesday (January 21, 2025) took to Instagram to share a harrowing ordeal she was subjected to recently. The caption of the Reel on the popular photo-sharing platform read, “Limits were crossed today. Delhi is not safe for women at all.”

“Today, I took a bit of a break. Yash was managing the Rani Bagh shop and I went to get a few hair services. After that, I took a rickshaw to return. As soon as I sat in the rickshaw, a few guys noticed me and there were two-wheelers on both sides chasing me. I got so scared, thinking they might throw something at me or attack me. I am sure that person will upload the video somewhere,” she said. Chandrika added, “I was advised not to take out my mobile during the ride. They started asking strange questions and I was left terrified.”

“I challenge those guys to come to my shop and then ask their questions. They surrounded the rickshaw on both sides. I was scared and did not even know who they were. What wrong have I done? Some people might think I am doing this for content. No, I do not need content or followers. I am very happy with my work. I have been using Instagram for a few years now,” she further said. Chandrika’s clip has received thousands of views in no time.

Who is Chandrika Gera?

For the unversed, Chandrika participated in Bigg Boss OTT season 3 in 2024. However, she failed to bag the top spot in the Anil Kapoor-hosted show. Apart from Instagram, Chandrika also runs a YouTube channel where she has more than three lakh followers. She reportedly now runs vada pav shops at two locations in the national capital.
