Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava breaks Stree 2’s record in ticket sales for advance booking

New Delhi: Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava is proving to be a box office force even before its release. The historical drama is set to hit theatres on February 14 and has already surpassed Sky Force and Stree 2 in advance bookings. Notably, the movie which also stars Akshaye Khanna and Rashmika Mandanna has become the biggest Hindi film opener of 2025 so far.

Advance ticket sales for Chhaava have been nothing short of extraordinary. Since pre-booking opened on February 8, the film has already sold over 200,000 tickets on BookMyShow (BMS) and still has three days left before its official release.

As of February 11, Chhaava has grossed Rs 4.49 crore in advance bookings, beating Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force, which had a pre-sales figure of Rs 3.82 crore. With these numbers, the film has officially secured the highest day-one advance booking for a Hindi film this year.

In a surprising turn, Chhaava has also left Stree 2 in the dust. Three days before release, Chhaava has already outsold the Rajkummar Rao-Shraddha Kapoor starrer by a massive 68%. The total pre-sales for Hindi films on BMS three days before release look like this:

Jawan – 6.16 lakh tickets
Animal – 3.17 lakh tickets
Tiger 3 – 2.78 lakh tickets
Chhaava – 2.02 lakh tickets
Stree 2 – 1.28 lakh tickets

Can Chhaava claim the biggest opening of 2025?

With its roaring pre-sales, Chhaava has already secured the fifth-biggest Hindi film opening of 2025. If the momentum continues, it could soon overtake the opening collections of Deva and the Sanam Teri Kasam re-release.

The real test, however, will be whether Chhaava can dethrone Sky Force’s Rs 15.30 crore opening day collection and claim the title of 2025’s biggest Hindi film opener. With strong audience anticipation, Vicky Kaushal’s historical epic seems well on its way to making box office history.

Chhaava cast and release date

Directed by Laxman Uttekar, Chhaava is the biopic of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Apart from the three lead stars, it also features Divya Dutta, Ashutosh Rana, Santosh Juvekar, Pradeep Ram Singh Rawat and Neil Bhoopalam in prominent roles. The Vicky Kaushal-starrer will hit the theatres on February 14, 2025.
