What is Thandel about?

The plot for Thandel follows Raju, who is head over heels in love with Bujji. Before their wedding, Bujji expresses concern for his safety and requests him to stop fishing. But, Raju ignores her comments and sets out to the seas regardless. Things go south when a powerful storm pushes his boat off course, leading him to be captured by the Pakistani authorities. The narrative then follows Raju’s journey to survive and desperately find a way back home.

The cast for Thandel includes Naga Chaitanya, Sai Pallavi, Prakash Belawadi, Aadukalam Naren, Divya Pillai, Karunakaran, Babloo Prithiveeraj, Kalpa Latha, and Charandeep.

Thandel was inspired by real events

Inspired by real life events of a fisherman from Srikakulam who unknowingly crosses into Pakistani waters. In 2000, a fisherman named Chodipilli Musalayya moved to Gujarat for work. In the times when GPS was not used, many fishermen drifted across borders without realising it. When Musalayya was seized by coastal guards, he was only able to make it back home two years later in 2002.
