New Delhi: Comedian Samay Raina has made his first YouTube post since the controversy surrounding his web show India’s Got Latent, and fans are taking notice. The comedian, currently touring Canada, shared a simple yet powerful message on his channel, and within minutes, it racked up thousands of likes.

Late Friday (February 21) night, Samay took to his YouTube channel and posted a message exclusively for his paid subscribers. The post contained just two emojis—a heart and a hug—symbols of unity and support. Despite being restricted to “Members Only,” the post gained significant traction.

A fan’s screenshot from YouTube revealed that the post had amassed around 7,500 likes within just one minute. On Reddit, another fan noted that the number crossed 10,000 likes in under four minutes. “It has 11k likes in 4 minutes on members only. That’s big in my opinion,” a user commented.

While many appreciated the subtlety of the post, some speculated that Samay may have planned to share a video but refrained due to the ongoing legal situation. “He must be thinking of editing and posting a video but then he must have realised that he can’t. So that’s all he can post now,” read one comment on Reddit.

Others debated the engagement levels, suggesting that a public post would have garnered over 100,000 likes easily. “This is too less. Had he posted normally, it would have been 100k,” a fan wrote.

India’s Got Latent controversy

Samay Raina found himself at the centre of controversy after an episode of his show India’s Got Latent featured a controversial remark by guest Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as BeerBiceps. Ranveer’s obscene comment sparked outrage, leading to multiple FIRs against him, Samay, and other panellists.

Following the backlash, Samay deleted all episodes of India’s Got Latent from YouTube. The case even reached the Supreme Court, putting the comedian under legal scrutiny. Since then, he has stayed silent on social media—until now.
