New Delhi: In the latest development, Mumbai Police have released the findings of the Face Recognition Test, which confirmed that the arrested accused Shariful’s face matches the suspect captured on CCTV footage from Saif Ali Khan’s residence. Police conducted a facial recognition test after concerns emerged that Shariful’s appearance looked different than the man captured on CCTV from the actor’s building. The cops confirmed that the test had come positive, confirming that Shariful was the one who attacked the Go Goa Gone actor.

The father of Shariful, the Bangladeshi national arrested in connection with the case, said that he would visit the Indian High Commission to protest the arrest of his son. According to sources, Shariful’s father has claimed that the Mumbai Police is “framing” his son in the high-profile case.

Saif Ali Khan attack: Big breakthrough

Facial recognition technology has played a key role in cracking the case of Saif Ali Khan’s attack. The police said that the forensic analysis validated that Mohammed Shriful Islam was the individual on the CCTV camera installed at Saif Ali Khan’s home. As per Bandra police, the forensic experts used facial recognition, which verified Shariful’s involvement in the case.

In addition to the breakthrough, forensic experts have also examined blood samples from Saif and the attacker from their clothes to confirm if the blood stains on the attacker’s clothes belonged to the actor. The probe in the case is still underway. Meanwhile, the accused has been sent to 14-day judicial custody, following 10-day police custody.

About Saif Ali Khan’s attack case

Mohammed Shariful Islam, the alleged attacker, broke into the home of Saif Ali Khan in Bandra, Mumbai, with the intention of theft. When the 54-year-old actor confronted the intruder, the latter stabbed him six times before fleeing the scene. After the tragic incident, Saif was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent two major operations. Currently, Saif is recovering from his injuries.
