Saif Ali Khan stabbing case: Accused nabbed in Thane by Mumbai Police

New Delhi: The Mumbai Police has arrested the prime accused in the shocking attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan at his Bandra residence. The accused, identified as Mohammad Aliyan (alias Vijay Das), was nabbed during a joint operation by the Bandra Police and Crime Branch in Thane early Sunday (January 19) morning.

The accused was tracked to a construction site near Hiranandani Estate in Thane (West), where he was hiding in dense bushes. Mumbai Police sources revealed that Aliyan had been working as a housekeeping staff member at a local bar and had been using multiple aliases, including Vijay Das and Bijoy, to evade arrest.

The police will present him in court to seek custody for further interrogation. They aim to uncover why the accused entered Saif’s residence and attacked the actor and his staff.

Saif Ali Khan attack case

Saif Ali Khan, 54, was attacked in his Bandra apartment in the early hours of January 16. The actor sustained six stab wounds and was rushed to Lilavati Hospital by his family. Reports state he underwent two surgeries and received around 20 stitches. Fortunately, he is stable and recovering, with doctors expecting his discharge next week.

The attacker allegedly broke into Saif’s duplex apartment in Satguru Sharan building, Bandra (West), and launched a violent assault. Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif’s wife, was reportedly left traumatised by the incident and moved to her sister Karisma Kapoor’s Khar residence for safety.

CCTV footage from the actor’s building captured the attacker’s movements, which played a key role in identifying him. Security has since been tightened at both the Bandra and Khar residences. Before this, a suspect was detained in Chhattisgarh but later declared uninvolved. Another individual was questioned in Bandra but released after it was confirmed he had no connection to the crime.
