Saif Ali Khan health update: Actor expected to be discharged in next 2-3 days

New Delhi: After being stabbed six times by the unidentified attacker, Saif Ali Khan underwent two surgeries at the Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai. According to reports, the actor is expected to be discharged by Tuesday, January 21, as per doctors. The 54-year-old actor underwent emergency surgery to remove a part of a knife that got lodged in his spine. On Friday (January 17), he was shifted from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to the special ward.

Saif Ali Khan, son of Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and Sharmila Tagore, was viciously attacked at his Mumbai residence by an attacker, in a bid to protect his little son Jeh. The actor was then rushed to the Lilavati Hospital by his son Taimur Ali Khan in an auto-rickshaw.

In the latest development, Saif Ali Khan is expected to be discharged in the next two to three days from the hospital as he is responding positively to the treatment and is recovering well. Dr Niraj Uttamani said in a statement, “He is out of danger. He is completely cheerful. In fact, we are planning a discharge in the next two to three days.’’

The doctors at the Lilavati Hospital performed the surgery on January 16 to remove the blade from his spine which went for almost five-and-a-half hours. The doctor added that the surgery began at 5 am and ended at 10:30 am.

As per the sources at the Lilavati Hospital, the actor was hit so hard that the knife broke inside his back. His other two deep cuts were repaired by plastic surgery and in total, he received 20 stitches.

The 54-year-old Adipurush actor underwent two surgeries at the Lilavati Hospital – one where a part of the knife was removed from his spine and the other was cosmetic. On Friday (January 17), he was removed from the hospital’s ICU and was shifted to a special Ward.

Kareena Kapoor on Saif Ali Khan attack

In a statement to Mumbai Police, Kareena Kapoor Khan said that the attacker was aggressive and attacked Saif repeatedly, adding that their priority was to take Saif to the hospital. The family escaped to the 12th floor of their Mumbai home. The actress also said that the jewellery was kept in plain sight but the intruder did not touch anything.
