Records rewritten! Pushpa 2 surpasses Baahubali 2’s long-standing BO collection

New Delhi: Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna’s Pushpa 2 was released in theatres on December 6, 2024. Five weeks into its theatrical run, the film has finally shown signs of slowing down. However, despite a dip in sales, Pushpa 2 has broken yet another major Box Office record.

Since Pushpa 2‘s release, the public has been comparing it to Prabhas’ blockbuster film Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. For those unversed, until now, Baahubali 2 stood as the second highest-grossing film in Indian cinema. However, this record now has a new placeholder!

Pushpa 2 surpasses Baahubali 2 Box Office collection

The official Instagram account for Pushpa 2 confirmed that the film has surpassed Rs 1800 crore in worldwide Box Office collection within 28 days of release. For context, Baahubali 2 grossed Rs 1810.60 crore in worldwide collection. Today (January 5) marks day 32 of Pushpa 2‘s theatrical release and it is safe to say that it has flown past Baahubali 2‘s lifetime earnings.

Further, Pushpa 2 also became the fastest entrant into the Rs 1,800 crore club. Only Aamir Khan’s Dangal remains ahead with Rs 2070.3 crore in worldwide collection. But, the festive season will bring new films such as Ram Charan’s Game Changer, which might challenge Pushpa 2‘s Box Office dominance.

Will Pushpa 2 maintain Box Office momentum?

As per current trends, Pushpa 2 shows a downward trajectory in its sales. However, while the festive season challenges the film, it could also give Pushpa 2 a potential edge to retain its audience. While Pushpa 2‘s Telugu version has seen a steep decline in collections, the Hindi version has been going strong. With Rs 806 crore in Net India collections, Pushpa 2 (Hindi) has become the first Hindi film to cross this milestone.
