A “slow” Indian economy is today the fastest growing economy in the world, an open fact that this article seems to ignore (“Why is India’s middle class so silent about the slowing economy?”). The hatred for Narendra Modi has led to stories being invented to demonise the prime minister and his supporters. – Madhvesh

I agree with the title of the article. Reading the article one assumes that there will be some interviews of and statistics about those affected by the slowing economy. But apart from some random data by the National Statistics Office, an out-of-context quote by an HDFC executive and some comparison to China and Covid-19, there is little that corroborates what the title says. Why would anyone be encouraged to subscribe to Scroll when I can read such news and opinion in the comment section of any social media platform? – Emial Sofia

The article seems to be more concerned with inciting people rather than providing suggestions for economic growth.
