Prateik Babbar leaves his father off wedding guest list, step-siblings react: ‘How can he do this’

New Delhi: Valentine’s Day 2025 was a special occasion for Prateik Babbar and Priya Banerjee, as they tied the knot in an intimate ceremony. However, the celebration came with a major controversy—Prateik’s father and veteran actor Raj Babbar and his step-siblings, Aarya and Juhi Babbar, were not invited. Now, the family has broken their silence, expressing hurt and disappointment over the exclusion.

Aarya Babbar, Prateik’s half-brother, opened up about the family’s shock in an interview with Subhash K. Jha for The Indian Express. While he admitted that their relationship may have had its ups and downs, he was stunned that Prateik would exclude their father.

“Not inviting us—my mother (Nadira Babbar), my sister (Juhi), or me—could be condonable. Maybe we failed him as a family. But our father? His own father? How could he do this?” Aarya questioned. He further added that their father, Raj Babbar, was deeply hurt.

According to Aarya, Prateik’s decision was not only a slight to their father but also a disservice to his late mother, legendary actress Smita Patil. “If he really stops to think for a moment, he would realize that his mother, whom he loves and respects so much, would not have wanted this.”

Juhi Babbar hints at external influence

Following Aarya’s remarks, Juhi Babbar also weighed in on the controversy in an interview with The Times of India. While acknowledging the pain her family felt, she remained hopeful that time would mend their strained ties. “Nothing can change the fact that Prateik is my brother and we are Raj Babbar’s children,” she asserted. However, she hinted that someone was influencing Prateik’s decisions. “Right now, he is surrounded by a few people—whom we don’t wish to name—who have influenced him.”

While Juhi clarified that her comments were not directed at Prateik’s new wife, Priya Banerjee, she did claim that “someone desperate for attention” was behind the estrangement.
