‘Naam mein ashleelta…’: Elvish Yadav makes racist comments towards Chum Darang

New Delhi: Elvish Yadav, a former Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner, has always been vocal about his unfiltered opinions online. This has gotten him into quite the controversies in the past. And this time, Chum Darang, one of Bigg Boss 18‘s finalists, became his target in a viral video. Redditors dug up a video where Elvish Yadav was in conversation with Rajat Dalal,  another one of BB18′s finalists.

It is known that Elvish supported his friend Rajat Dalal during the show. While speaking to Rajat, Elvish spoke about Chum Darang, her ‘love angle’ with Karan Veer Mehra and made unacceptable comments about her name. Netizens are furious at Elvish’s comments and demand an apology. Here is what happened.

Netizens furious at Elvish Yadav for racist comments against Chum

In the viral Reddit clip, Elvish Yadav sat opposite Rajat Dalal and questioned Karan Veer Mehra’s romantic choice. Calling his taste bad, he called Chum’s name ‘vulgar’. Elvish said, “Karan Veer ko pakka COVID tha kyunki Chum kisko pasand aati hai bhai, itna taste kiska kharab hota hai! Aur Chum ke toh naam mein hi ashleelta hai… Naam Chum aur kaam Gangubai Kathiawadi mein kiya hai.”

Netizens are furious at Elvish’s comments and called for immediate action. Pointing out the casual racism and the blatant character assassination, many criticised the YouTuber for his disgraceful words. Both Rajat and Elvish acknowledged the racism faced by Northeastern Indians but failed to spot the hypocrisy.

Chum has previously spoken about being called ‘coronavirus’ during the pandemic and how prejudiced she felt during the already tough times. Chum Darang is currently in her hometown in Arunachal Pradesh enjoying her time away after three months inside the Bigg Boss house. Chum has yet to react to Elvish Yadav’s comments.
