Mika Singh SLAMS Bipasha Basu for ‘Dangerous’ experience: ‘The drama created by her…’

New Delhi: Mika Singh isn’t holding back when it comes to his experience producing the 2020 web series Dangerous. In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, the singer-turned-producer sharply criticized Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover, hinting that their current lack of work might just be karma.

“Why do you think they are out of work now? God is watching everything,” the Jugni singer said, reflecting on his regret over working with the couple.

The Punjabi singer had initially planned a low-budget film with Karan Singh Grover to promote his music. “I just wanted to make a low-budget film, around Rs 4 crore,” he revealed. Since he couldn’t afford Vikram Bhatt as a director, he brought in Bhushan Patel, who had previously worked with Bipasha in Alone.

However, things changed when the No Entry actress insisted on being part of the project. “The shoot was set in London, and the budget increased from Rs 4 crore to Rs 14 crore. And the drama created by Bipasha ensured that I would always regret getting into production,” Mika admitted.

Bipasha’s on-set tantrums

Mika detailed how Bipasha’s behaviour affected the shoot. “It was a team she was comfortable with, and they were playing a couple who had to feature in kissing scenes. Suddenly, she was throwing tantrums, saying she won’t do this or she won’t do that,” he shared.

The troubles didn’t end after filming. the singer claimed that even completing the dubbing process was a struggle. “Someone always had a sore throat. If it was Bipasha who was sick at one time, it was Karan at another,” he recalled.

The Subha Hone Na De crooner also criticised actors who don’t respect independent producers. “When some out-of-work heroines are thinking their luck is bad, it is important to note that they should respect producers who come with opportunities. They are your god. They might be happy playing miniscule roles in a Dharma Productions film but won’t respect small-time producers, who are paying the same amount of money.”

Despite the setbacks, Mika remains focused on his career. “I have zero attitude. Even recently, I went to Bengaluru to sing for Devi Sri Prasad in Pushpa. If Pritam calls me at 6 AM to sing a song, I will do it too. That’s why I am where I am. This success doesn’t come overnight, and you have to love your work.”

For the unversed, Mika turned producer for the 2020 MX Original Dangerous, which starred Bipasha Basu, 46, and Karan Singh Grover, 43, in the lead. The duo met while filming Alone back in 2015 and got married in 2016. The pair welcomed their first child, a daughter named Devi, in 2022. It has been almost five years since Bipasha was last seen acting.
