New Delhi: By delivering heartwarming entertainment in cinemas, Laapataa Ladies became one of the most talked-about theatrical releases of 2024. The comedy-drama, directed by renowned filmmaker Kiran Rao, opened to mostly positive reviews from critics and audiences. And, among the standout performances in the movie was that of Ravi Kishan.

The 55-year-old actor-politician played the role of Sub-Inspector Shyam Manohar in the flick. But, what caught the attention of the viewers was his dialogue delivery and body language, which set him apart from everyone else in Laapataa Ladies.

Ravi’s character in the film was a paan lover and consumed it throughout his entire screen time. According to a TV9 Hindi report, he revealed in a podcast that he chewed 160 paans for Laapataa Ladies. Ravi further disclosed that when he visited Bihar earlier, he noticed an officer who always had a paan in his mouth and talked with his face tilted upward.

“I saw him a lot of times and thought that I would always keep him in mind. Whenever I meet an amazing person, they get saved in the floppy disk of my mind. Similarly, there are 700-800 characters in my body that are eager to come out,” Ravi was quoted as saying. He further explained that Kiran wanted the character to eat something all the time. And this was when Ravi suggested paan to her, to which she agreed.
