India’s Got Latent: What did Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina do after that controversial joke?

New Delhi: The internet is buzzing over what really went down after Ranveer Allahbadia, aka BeerBiceps, cracked that eyebrow-raising joke on India’s Got Latent. A viral video by social media user Mohit Khubani claims to have the full scoop—straight from someone who was in the audience.

For the unversed, Mohit a Mumbai-based fitness enthusiast, took to Instagram to share his story. He even promised to post a screenshot of his ticket to prove he was there when Ranveer’s joke stirred controversy. His video has since exploded online, amassing over 2 million views.

What happened after Ranveer Allabadia cracked the joke?

According to Mohit, the on-stage moment didn’t end the way the internet might assume. In his now-viral video, he reveals that Ranveer immediately checked on the contestant after making the joke. “I was in the audience… after cracking that joke, Ranveer repeatedly asked the contestant if he felt bad. I know a sorry doesn’t fix everything, but he was making sure the kid was comfortable. Even Samay asked if he was okay,” Mohit says in the clip.

And in a plot twist that many online critics may not have expected—the contestant actually won the show. “Ranveer hugged him during the celebrations and apologised again. Samay also praised his performance,” Mohit adds.

Mohit, a self-proclaimed fan of Samay Raina, didn’t hold back his admiration. “I f*cking love Samay. He is the most humble guy I have ever met before India’s Got Latent. I used to attend his shows, dude. That guy is so f*cking humble,” he wrote in his post.

He also shared his thoughts on comedy as an art form, arguing that humor shouldn’t be mistaken for personal attacks. “Comedy is meant to help people switch off and enjoy a laugh. If we find every joke offensive, there won’t be any comedy left,” he said, echoing Samay’s stance on the matter.

Former contestant speaks up

Former India’s Got Latent contestant Arpita Mishra shared her experience with the show. She revealed that her performance didn’t go as planned and led to heavy trolling, but she never felt uncomfortable because of the comedians involved.

“Comedians like Samay, Balraj, Rahul, Kenny, and Hozay made sure I was comfortable. Samay even asked if I was okay with my footage being aired,” she said. She further dismissed the outrage, writing, “Bhai, hum gaye roast hone ke liye. Hume issue nahi hai… duniya ko kya problem hai?” (We went there to get roasted. We don’t have a problem, so why is everyone else upset?)
