Huawei Honor announced the launch of powerful V9 in China with 6GB RAM and Kirin 960 processor Featured

Huawei today announced a new powerful smartphones, Honor V9. The device carries all the elements of a flagship smartphone with its 6GB of RAM capacity and Kirin 960 processor.

The phone was launched in China and will be made available for purchase on February 28.

Hot on the heels of the Honor 8 lite announcement, Huawei has taken the wraps off its flagship handset - the Honor V9 in China, which will be released under the Honor 8 Pro moniker in international markets.

The Honor V9 comes with a 5.7-inch QuadHD display with a resolution of 2560x1440, the 64-bit Kirin 960 octa-core processor, 4/6GB of RAM, a 4,000 mAh non-removable battery and 64/128 GB of internal storage which can be expanded via a microSD card.

Honor V9 comes with a sleek and polished design, with a thickness of just 6.97mm and multiple color options, including Red, Gold, Black and Blue. The company highlighted the red variant during the press conference, but mentioned that other colors are available as well.

The metal-clad device comes with a dual-camera setup on the back, a rear mounted fingerprint sensor, power and volume keys on the right and capacitive buttons on the front.

On the imaging front, the Honor V9 sports two 12MP sensors on the back, circa the Honor 8. Both cameras have an aperture of f/2.2 and work together to provide better contrast and better light and shadow reproduction.

Huawei claims that the Honor V9 comes with improved black and white sensors which let in 3 times more light as compared to the Honor 8 and is also capable of taking 3D creative photos.

When it comes to software, the handset comes with Huawei's own EMUI 5.0 running atop Android 7.0 Nougat.

Price and availability

The Huawei Honor V9 comes in three different variants - one with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage for 2,599 Yuan (roughly Rs 25,300), one with 6GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage for 2,999 Yuan (roughly Rs 29,200) and a top of the line model with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage for 3,499 Yuan (roughly Rs 34,000).

The smartphone will go on sale in China at 10 AM on February 28. Details regarding an international launch are unavailable at the moment.
