New Delhi: Renowned producer Ekta Kapoor, along with ALT Digital Media Entertainment and her family, are planning to take strict legal action against those who are apparently disseminating misleading and false information about them.

For those unversed, these allegations are reportedly tied to the 2020 police complaint against her and her company. Despite closing the case, Ekta believes that certain people have been exploiting the matter to defame her and her brand. Get all the details here.

Ekta Kapoor to sue against false, misleading accusations

On February 16, Advocate Rizwan Siddiquee, Ekta’s legal representative took to X to share an official statement regarding the matter. The post informs the public that Ekta has intentions of filing a Rs 100 crore civil defamation lawsuit that is coupled with criminal proceedings, against individuals who have been using ‘defamatory and baseless claims’ against her.

The notice further states that parties driven by ‘personal agendas and criminal motives’ have been circulating misleading information about her. The 9th Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of Bandra Court refrained from taking cognizance of the complaint. Instead, the magistrate requested the police to conduct an inquiry “to first ascertain the veracity and genuineness of the complaint brought before him.”

All about Ekta Kapoor’s 2020 controversy

The previously mentioned 202 case involves a complaint filed against ALT Balaji by Bigg Boss fame Vikas Pathak, also known as Hindustani Bahu. The influencer accused ALT Balaji of allegedly disrespecting Indian soldiers by depicting a military officer engaging in “an illicit sexual act”. The complaint further bashed the OTT platform for ‘stooping to a cheap low and shamelessly targeting the dignity and pride of India by depicting the Indian Army military uniform in the illicit sexual act with the national emblem on it’. Well, the case has been long closed, however, it seems that the backlash from the controversy has been following Ekta to this day.
