Ed Sheeran Chennai concert: Crowd goes wild as British vocalist sings Urvasi Urvasi with AR Rahman

New Delhi: And it cannot get bigger than this. Two of the biggest music icons – Ed Sheeran and AR Rahman – joined forces on Wednesday (February 5, 2025), leaving the crowd mesmerised at the British vocalist’s concert in Chennai.

The 58-year-old composer won the hearts of music lovers by jamming with the 33-year-old singer on a mashup of Shape of You and Urvashi Urvashi. Yes, you read that right! The audience went wild as Ed announced Rahman’s name from the stage.

The Academy Award-winning musician sang the Tamil version of his popular track Urvashi Urvashi, while Ed elevated the entertainment quotient by blending it with lines from his global hit Shape of You at the YMCA Grounds, Nandanam. In no time, the clip garnered more than 45 lakh views and numerous like on Instagram. “Not the first time AR Rahman has put Indian/Tamil music on the global map. Forever the legend. Pride of Chennai. Pride of India,” commented a social media user. Another wrote, “What a dream team! Thanks to Ed Sheeran and AR Rahman for giving us a performance we’ll be talking about for years!”
