In just four days of its release, Chhaava has minted Rs 140.5 crore in India. The film’s worldwide collection stands at Rs 164.75, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.com. Vicky Kaushal who plays Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj reportedly earned a hefty Rs 10 crore for the role. This accounts for nearly 7% of the film’s budget and matches what he received for Bad Newz. However, it’s still lower than his Uri: The Surgical Strike paycheck of Rs 12 crore. Given his commanding screen presence and the film’s box office numbers, it seems like money well spent.

Meanwhile, Rashmika Mandanna who plays Maharani Yesubai Bhonsale, took home Rs 4 crore—less than half of Vicky’s salary. While she is one of the most sought-after actresses pan India, her paycheck mirrors a glaring gender pay gap in Bollywood. Fans have mixed reactions, especially since her performance received criticism for its lack of authenticity in language and emotions.

Akshaye Khanna, who plays Mughal ruler Aurangzeb, earned Rs 2.5 crore. While this is an increase from his Rs 2 crore fee for Drishyam 2, many believe his performance deserved a bigger payout. Social media users argue that his nuanced portrayal of the Mughal emperor was one of the film’s strongest points, making his paycheck seem unfairly low compared to Vicky’s.

The supporting actors of Chhaava had a significant pay disparity as well. Ashutosh Rana, who played Hambirrao Mohite, earned Rs 80 lakh. While Divya Dutta, portraying Rajmata Soyarabai Bhosale, received Rs 45 lakh. Diana Penty’s performance left critics unimpressed. The Cocktail actress reportedly had a modest paycheck, though her exact earnings remain undisclosed.
