Saif Ali Khan stabbing case update: Was attacker using West Bengal-based woman’s SIM card?

New Delhi: More than a week has passed since the brutal attack on Saif Ali Khan and investigations in the case continue in full swing. Following the arrest of a Bangladeshi national, the name of a woman has now surfaced in the matter, raising further eyebrows. Reportedly, the SIM card of a West Bengal-based lady has landed her in trouble.

An official was quoted on Monday (January 27, 2025), saying that the woman whose mobile phone SIM was used by the accused told the police she had lost her cellphone. The official further informed the news agency that the cops were ‘100 per cent’ sure that Bangladeshi national Shariful Islam was responsible for attacking the 54-year-old Bollywood star.

A team of Mumbai police recently visited Nadia and Murshidabad districts in West Bengal as part of their probe. During the course of the investigation, the police discovered that a woman’s SIM card had been used by the arrested accused for making calls. The official added that her statement has been recorded.

Accused was armed with hacksaw blade?

She claimed she had lost her mobile phone and the police are verifying her assertion. The official also mentioned that Shariful was armed with a hacksaw blade and a knife as well. Investigating officials are expected to visit locations in West Bengal where Shariful stayed after crossing over from the neighbouring country.

For the unversed, Shariful is said to be a Bangladeshi man who illegally entered India in 2024. He was arrested from Thane city for the attack on the renowned actor and is currently in police custody until Wednesday (January 29, 2025).

Saif Ali Khan was stabbed multiple times on January 16, 2025, in a knife attack in his 12th-floor apartment in Bandra during an attempted robbery. After sustaining multiple injuries, he was rushed to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai, where he underwent surgery. He is believed to be recovering well from the shocking incident.
