Bigg Boss Tamil season 8 runner-up: Muthukumaran wins but who claimed second spot?

New Delhi: After more than 100 days of blessing television lovers with blockbuster entertainment, the winner of Bigg Boss Tamil Season 8 was finally revealed on Sunday (January 19, 2025) night. The announcement was made on stage by host Vijay Sethupathi. Towards the end of the concluding episode, Muthukumaran Jegatheesan and Soundariya Nanjundan joined the 54-year-old actor amid extreme nervousness and anticipation among fans.

And guess what? Muthukumaran was finally crowned as the winner of the eighth installment of Bigg Boss Tamil, while Soundariya emerged as the first runner-up. Check out the final rankings:

Along with the prestigious trophy, Muthukumaran also took home a whopping prize. While many netizens expressed happiness over his victory, some believed that Soundariya was more deserving.

“Soundariya Nanjundan, the coolest female contestant in the history of Bigg Boss,” posted an X (formerly known as Twitter) user. Another wrote, “Thank you, God. I have supported and voted for a wonderful, kind-hearted person. Gracefully handling the finale with natural sportiveness. I am proud to be a Soundariya supporter.”

In an exciting turn of events, Vijay TV channel head Bala disclosed that Vijay Sethupathi will return as host for Bigg Boss Tamil Season 9. It is to be noted that the actor took over hosting responsibilities from Kamal Haasan, who led the show for the past seven seasons. Expressing gratitude, Vijay said, “I am walking in the great Kamal sir’s path. I must thank him for the path he has created.”
